Hip Hop is Dead

I’ve come to accept that Hip Hop has gotten so big that you have to sub-categorize it now. There is the “grown man Hip Hop”, which is the more conscious, creative, and credible form of Rap. Then there is the “Ringtone Hip Hop” which i like to also call  “Hip Pop”, which is the majority of music being heard on the radio today. So with that in mind, check out this vid of some classic “grown man” hip hop.

I blame the youth. they following a “syrup” sipping fool like he’s really nice. we need to educate these young savages. when did being stupid become fashionable? where did the self respect go?

  3. Shaaaaaa says:

All the self respect went down south .. The dirty South.. Where living in a trailer home and driving a $50,000 car is in style… Fuck Hip Hop.. Listen to dance muzic….LOL….

  4. Fully agree on that post! The grown stuff has that certain element of being timeless, while that ringtone biz is short-lived and makes some temp money. There are soo many that get lost in the sea of Hip Pop, and Ring tone rap, it’s a sad state of affairs mostly now. Thank got for a select few doing their thing and holding it down rightfully.

I understand and agree with your thoughts, but I guess that’s the way things go when you give someone a choice between big fame and smaller fame. To remain original, and inspiring as a rapper is likely to mean you will build up a loyal compact fan base, where as to accept the ring tone ‘hip pop’ as you call it, is likely to sell millions, its supply and demand!
